Goodbye to Corporate America Log - Day 31

31 days after I said goodbye to corporate america.

I was still trying to recover from my cold this past week.  The alarm clock went off at 8:00 a.m., but I did not want to get up.  Not at all.  Not necessary because I wanted to sleep more, but my body was telling me that I need to rest more.  So I did.  J   I stayed in bed until 9:30 a.m. partly sleeping, partly doing my visualization routine.

At 11:00 a.m., I arrived at Glide on time.  I once again got a front row seat 5 feet away from the stage.  I was by myself this weekend, but it was okay.  I felt quite at home.  The music was amazing.  The choir was singing their heart out.  It was touching.  I can still hear the music now.  The best part of the service was Douglas Fitch.  God blessed that man, who is getting married in May, 2007.  Douglas and Angel (his fiancée) deserved each other.

Here are a few words that Douglas mentioned that really touched my heart:

  • Life is not about finding yourself.  It is about creating yourself.

  • It is never too late to become who you are supposed to be.

  • Pain is inevitable.  Misery is optional.

  • The tragedy of life is not failure, but aiming too low and become complacent with what you have.

  • Don’t waste your life living somebody else’s dream.

  • Get a life of your own and don’t be a parasite.

  • The greatest hazard in life is risking nothing.

  • The only person who is truly free is the one who takes risk.

  • Don’t let things happen, make things happen.

Douglas ended with his favorite quote:  Dance like you have never danced before.  Work like you don’t need the money.  Live like you are going to die tomorrow. If you find this article helpful and would like to support EdithYeung.com, click here.
