The Perfect Accounting System (Inspired by Christine Comaford-Lynch)
Email to a friend
I had the wonderful privilege to hear Christine Comaford-Lynch speak on two different occasions in the past two months. Christine introduced me to a very powerful concept which I want to share with all of you.
But first, let me tell you how I have applied this concept and was able to drive over 590 unique visitors and counting (as of April 24th 2007) to my website within only 22 days of its launch.
This is what I did:
- I spoke and wrote articles for people who need help in building up their self esteem, communication skills and money management habits.
- I helped and am bringing Seth Godin to Silicon Valley, May 23rd 2007, for his book tour.
- I am leading a team for www.PathwaysforKids.org upcoming fund raising event.
- I contribute to Glide Memorial Church (in San Francisco).
This is what I received:
- I received great website traffic and an ever increasing volume of loyal visitors.
- I received amazing support (emails, kind words and website track back) from both existing friends and new friends from all over the world.
- I met two great people through Seth and are now working with them to put together ‘Seth Godin Live in Silicon Valley 2007’
- I got into a new real estate deal which has a strong potential for “knock your socks off” returns.
And, I want to attribute this very positive start to a concept introduced by Christine.
Here it is: “The universe has a perfect accounting system. The more you give, help and think for other people, the more you will get back.” This also means the less you think for yourself, the more you will get back.
Can this be possible?
Absolutely! Even though you spend less time on yourself, you are planting seeds in others and therefore more and more people would think of you and want to help you. If you truly want to help people with your heart, you will receive what you put out. The universe is really fair and it will always balance out and make sure you are taken care of.
There are three caveats of this accounting system of which you need to be aware of:
- Don’t expect you will get something back every time you help someone. You have to be genuine and it has to come from your heart.
- Your return may not be in the form or source that you expect. Be open.
- You have to be very clear and specific on what you want.
As Christine would say it is the relationships that you built that really matter and that will make this journey worthwhile.
Identify one person to help unconditionally every day. Don’t ask for anything back, instead encourage them to “pay it forward”.
I trust you and I can make this world better and better.
