53 Ways to Make Money on the Internet

EdithYeung.com has been live for 23 days!

Thankfully, my website traffic has been growing exponentially. I have been learning a lot in a very short period of time. I want to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to both my new friends and returning friends. I want to dedicate this article to all of you who currently own and would like to own a blog or website. My wish is for you to leverage my knowledge to help make your website and online marketing efforts more profitable. Please comment with your experiences of what has worked well for you as I want to keep this list current for people serious about making money on the internet.

There are 4 categories for generating revenue over the internet:

  • Online Advertising

  • Affilate Marketing

  • Selling Products or Services

  • Asking for Donations

Category One - Online Advertising

Online advertising is the most popular way for websites to make money. There are many online advertising website out there. I used Adsense and Adbrite the most. Some sites require you to have minimum traffic (which make sense for the advertisers).

  • - Sell space on your site for text ads. I have made a few bucks on this, but less than Adsense.
  • Adsense – Google displays relevant ads based on your site’s content. This is where I have made the most money to date.
  • AuctionAds - This one is pretty new.  You can display live eBay Auction Ad on your site.  This is actually an affilate of eBay.  You can earn up to 40 - 50% of the eBay revenue if the particular person win the bid.  See details on eBay Affilate sites.  I think this will be good for any sites that sell products.

  • – Another Online Ad site for you to sign up. Minimum payout is $10. The setup is very similar to Adsense.
  • - If your site has 5,000 page views per day or 150,000 page views per month, you can join Clicksor and generate income from contextual ads. I am not qualified yet, but know I will get there in the near future.
  • - Add ads to your RSS feed and you get paid per impression. – Similar to feedburner, is another site that can place ads to your RSS feed and you get paid per impression.
  • – They have about 300 advertisers, including AOL, Bose, Red Envelop, CompUSA, etc. It is similar to many other ad sites.
  • – Another RSS feed advertiser. Advertisers will pay a premium for you to show their ads.
  • - You can earn money by sending advertisers to them or by selling spots on your site. Your site must meet their minimum traffic and link popularity requirements before you can display the text link ads.
  • Yahoo Publisher Network- This is still in Beta version. Your application will be reviewed based on traffic. I suspect it will be very similar to Google Adsense. I want to list everything

I have not tried the following sites before, but it doesn’t hurt to check them out.

  • AzoogleAds - Another Ad site for you to sign up. I have never used this before.
  • – Similar to .
  • – Similar to .
  • – Similar to .
  • - Similar to .
  • – I personally dislike pop under advertising, but if this is something you like to do, check this out. I would not recommend it as this could be annoying for your reader.

Category Two – Affiliate & Referral Marketing

You can sign up with almost any website these days and become their affilate. You are basically their salesperson and earn a percentage commission of the revenue they make. There are specific advertisers that I signed up with such as Adsense and . There are also affilate hubs such as , and that I think are great because they work with thousands of advertisers. The key idea is that you should only endorse products or services that you really believe in. Keep in mind, your reputation is the most imporant thing. I would not recommend any product that I don’t use myself.

  • – Not only can make money from advertising, you now can make money by refer Adsense to other people.

  • – is a great service that I personally use to support EYInsider community. They also have an affiliate program which I would recommend. They pay 20% for each sales.

  • - Pay you $1 for each person you send over.

  • – Refer people to join CafePress. 15% Commission.

  • – This shopping network also has a referral program. Minimum payout is $10. I am waiting for their approval right now. This site has over 12000 blogs subscribed.

  • - Everyone should join Commission Junction. They are associated with thousands of companies. I found Brian Tracy & Anthony Robbins on there.

  • – pays you a referral fee by selling their advertiser’s digital products. Again, I would suggest only selling those products which you believe in. Your reputation is king. You don’t want your reader feel cheated after buying from your referral products.

  • – You make a royalty by discussion specific topics on your site. This one is very hard to understand. You will receive a royalty payment from the Conversation starter. I have never done this one before, try it and let me know how this one works.

  • - Add job search box to your site and get paid by referral job seeker. I haven’t done this on mine because I don’t want to encourage people to look for job. I think people should look for their purpose first. J

  • - Similar to Commission Junction, they are associated with thousands of companies.

  • – A shopping site pays you a percentage of the purchases made by people you refer for one year.
  • – Similar to Amazon you can sign up as affiliate and earn up to 8% commission on all products and 3% commission on auctions products.

  • - Another site that are similar to Commission Junction and Linkshare. I haven’t signed up with them yet.

Category Three – Selling Article, Products & Services

You can pretty much sell anything you want online these days. The following are some of the most popular vendors.

  • - Create an online store on your site selling Amazon products. Instead of sending visitors to Amazon, they can stay on your site. This is a great idea as you don’t want to lose your visitors.

  • - You can sell anything on Amazon. Amazon will charge you $0.99 per transaction plus a percentage of the sales. Similar to eBay.

  • - If you are an artists or authors, sell your books, music and videos on Amazon.

  • - Using your existing site, sell anything you can find on Amazon. Users will click the Amazon icon and be taken to Amazon site.

  • You can publish your article and get paid. The rate ranged from $3-$20 per article if accepted. You can also check their current wanted topics and submit some unique articles. Minimum payout is $15.

  • Blish - You can sell your photos, business template, training, books, ebook, audios, documents, or any other digital (downloadable) products on this site. Blish will handle all your marketing and any transaction fees and keep 50% of the revenue.

  • - You provide the design. They will put it on t-shirts, posters, mugs, bumper stickers. Similar to Blish, you can also sell audio and ebooks. When you sell a product, they keep the base price as profit and you earn the markup.

  • - Chitika is a blogger-driven merchandising/shopping network. Relevant products will be shown on site based on relevant keyword (similar technology as Adsense). But instead of showing ad, they show products.

  • – You can sell your digital products . This is a one time activation fee of $49.9

  • – If you are technical, you can look for freelance opportunities as a programmers, web designers, etc.

  • – Do freelance work from home as a Analyst and information specialists.

  • & – Sell your products on eBay and their stores.

  • – Get pay to talk to people. I will let you know when I get paid by either. I just set it up and my rate is $15 per minutes. You can try to . This is very interesting concept.

  • H3.com – Become a virtual headhunter yourself. If you know a lot of people, this could be a good idea. The referral fees vary by the job. You will get pay 90 days from the candidate’s employment start date.

  • – Sell pre-qualified well-timed leads and get paid by the vendors. InnerSell acts like Google Adsense, they are the medium that pass through the leads. Finder’s fee is determined by the vendor.

  • – You can also sell your stuff on Overstock.com.

  • Pay Per Post - Advertisers will pay you to write about their products on your blog. My suggestion would be only write about something that you truly believe in and information that can really help people; otherwise it will impact your reputation and you won’t be able to keep your readers for long. I put this in the selling services categories because you get pay for your specific work.

  • – If you are into building software, this is a great place for you to look for freelance job. People like me may check out this site to look for technical people who can improve my website.

  • – This is for those who love to evaluate software. This is not for me as I have enough of the software industries. They will pay you up to $50 to review software.

  • VuMe - They places banner ads around your video, audio or image that you attract and pay your a percentage of the revenue generated from those advertisements.

Category Four – Donation

  • Amazon Honor System – Very similar to Paypal using their 1-click technology.

  • – I personally use on my site. After each post, I will add the following: ‘If you find this article helpful, please donate to Edith, so you can continue to enjoy great articles, insightful audios and inspiring ideas.’

  • Personal Check – I do take personal check and you can find my address on my Donate page.

You would not believe this, I just spent hours working on this article. Don’t forget that you will only make money if you provide excellent content that truly helps people.

This article is written purely to help you to save time and make money. Enjoy!
