It is That Time of Year

I grew up in a family that did not have a lot of celebration. My mom and dad just didn’t care much about festivals or holidays. I remember spending many Christmas Days sitting at home watching TV all day just like any other day.

When I was 16, I came to the United States as an exchange student and stayed with an American family. For the first time ever in my life, I experienced Christmas.

My host parents prepared a seven-foot tall Christmas tree full of beautiful and shiny ornaments. They prepared gifts for my host sister and me. Even the little puppy had gifts! My host parents got up really early and put even more gifts under the tree to surprise us! It took almost three hours just for the four of us to open all of the gifts! If I remember correctly, I got almost 30 gifts from my host mom, dad, sister, little puppy Chelsea and even Santa! It was fun, beautiful and overwhelming as I had never experienced a family Christmas celebration like this before.

What is your plan for this holiday season?

May be it is time to pick up the phone and call your family?

May be it is time to celebrate your accomplishment for the year?

May be it is time to tell your loved ones that you really care?

May be it is time to finally do something that really means something to you.

Here is my Christmas gift to you.

“The Christmas Song” from one of my favorite singers, Nat King Cole.

Happy Holidays!
