Are You Compromising Yourself?
I read Seth’s blog today about a hobby shop and how slowly it has compromised its own marketing strategy without even realizing it. What he said about the shop made me think about people and my own strategy of life.
Every day, you wake up in the morning and it is so easy to be average and to follow what everyone else does, i.e. go to Starbucks, shop at Prada, listen to Britney Spears, etc.

Britney, and just about every person reading this post, has a shot at greatness, at becoming a person of value — a person whom fully enjoys life, happiness and growth. Along the way of this wonderful journey, it’s easy to compromise on small things of what you really want, because in that moment, it was a “small thing” and it was easy to do.
When this starts happening repeatedly we slowly forget where we originally came from. Ask yourself “Is this what I set out to do?” “Is making these compromises going to get me to a place worthy of the journey?” “Wouldn’t it be smarter to just stop doing what I have no passion for and replace it with something that has real meaning for me?”
If you are compromising yourself out of habit, what’s the point?

Great post, Edith. Thank you. An important reminder to use our life force in a focused way, each day; we only get so much and this society encourages unconscious living. It’s vital to love our work with a grand passion and to chip away each day toward making the contribution we were born to make (and earning our worth while doing so). The only part of your post that I take issue with is that, well, I don’t listen to Brittany Spears! (I know you were joking.)
