When I was a little girl, I saw this commercial with Yul Brynner in it. I didn’t know who he was at the time. The commercial was dubbed in Chinese. It caught my eyes because Yul Brynner, an American, was talking in Chinese.
He said, “I am sitting here because I got lung cancer. Now that I’m gone, I tell you, don’t smoke. If I can take back that smoke, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking about cancer. Don’t smoke. Just don’t smoke.”
It was a very powerful commercial and I still can remember his voice 20 years later.
May be that’s why I never bothered to smoke.
I couldn’t find the Chinese version of this commercial, but here is one in English.
P.S. Yul Brynner died of lung cancer on October 10, 1985.
