Celebrex 200 mg is known in the medical world as an NSAID (or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) which is useful in treating patients suffering from pain associated with arthritis, menstrual cramps, acute pain experienced in adulthood, colonic polyps, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and even juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children aged 2 years old and over.
Chemicals called prostaglandins are crucial contributors that cause arthritis to flare up, thereby inducing fever, swelling, tenderness and pain. Celebrex 200 mg actively blocks the enzyme cyclooxygenase 2, which is responsible for creating the prostaglandins. The result would be that there shall be a lower concentration of the prostaglandins in specific areas of the body. Because of this, the inflammation and its associated fever, swelling, tenderness and pain are significantly reduced. Celebrex 200 mg is very different from other NSAIDs due to the fact that it causes little inflammation and ulceration of the intestines and stomach (found in short term usage), and more importantly, Celebrex 200 mg does not obviously interfere with the normal clotting of blood.
It has been noted by research that NSAIDs can help prevent the development and minimize the size of polyps in those affected with the genetic disorder known as FAP or familial adenomatous polyposis. In the condition of FAP, a patient who has this tends to develop huge amounts of polyps in their colon, and after some time, some or all of the polyps become malignant or cancerous. The only solution to FAP is to remove the patient’s whole colon. Celebrex 200 mg is approved by doctors as a secondary (adjunctive) therapy for patients who have FAP. The pain and cramping experienced in patients who currently have their menstruation is because of the presence of prostaglandins, and by means of blocking the creation of prostaglandins with the help of Celebrex 200 mg thereby lowers the intensity of pain and cramps.
Do take note that Celebrex 200 mg does not help prevent the development or progression of all types of arthritis. Its only action is to help minimize the signs and symptoms of arthritis.
